Kids II Opens Nominations for Eighth Annual Pink Power Mom Awards
Pink Power Mom(TM) Program Honors Moms and Breast Cancer Survivors Making a Difference
ATLANTA, GA, May 25, 2014 /KidZNewswire/ -- Starting Monday, May 12, through June 26, Pink Power Mom? will accept nominations for moms with a personal connection to breast cancer and are dedicated to helping others. Annually, the program and network honors eight women, celebrating their accomplishments as moms, entrepreneurs and philanthropists. This one-of-a-kind program awards $9,000 over the course of five years to each winning mom's charity of choice, empowering them to continue making an impact in their communities. Now in its eighth year, Pink Power Mom is extending nominations outside of the U.S. to moms in Canada, for the first time.
"Pink Power Mom is truly a unique approach to helping the cause of breast cancer," said Heidi Floyd, Pink Power Mom executive director and Pink Power Mom award winner (2009). "We seek out moms who not only are breast cancer warriors themselves but who are also using their strength and experience to make a difference in the lives of others impacted by cancer."
Since 2006, Pink Power Mom has recognized 56 women to date. The Pink Power Moms are selected due to the inspiration, strength and service they provide others while in the face of adversity. Some previous honorees have started nonprofits like Lara MacGregor (2013 honoree from Louisville, Kentucky) who launched Hope Scarves to serve breast cancer patients. Others, such as Rebecca Byrne (2011 honoree from Framingham, Massachusetts), work to raise funds for breast cancer research,
Nominations for the 2014 Pink Power Mom awards can be entered online at pinkpowermom.com starting Monday, May 12 through Thursday, June 26, 2014. In February 2015, the winners will be honored during a celebratory weekend hosted in Atlanta by Kids II.
Floyd said, "If you know a breast cancer survivor who saw her experience as an opportunity to help others, we want to know about her. Please give these moms one more Mother's Day gift in recognizing all they do."
